Spanish Caravan take me away...

...take me to Portugal, take me to Spain. Maybe youre all too young for that. Its a song.

I had the pleasure yesterday of having lunch with three Spanish winemakers and getting to translate their ears off. They are in town to do some exclusive tastings for the company, my tasting turns out to be Sat afternoon. I learned a lot about culture, history, country, and how far down the toilet the $ is.

I learned that not only does the southern US have "rednecks", Spain does as well. Levi's are still cool in other countries and children's Levis go for about 80 euro.... if you can even find them. ($25 a pop here). Spanish winemakers not only consume wine from their wine region, but most of the time they will only drink their own wine not to mention consume about an ocean container load within a year. Ballpark figure thats just shy of 17,000 bottles a year. Wow, and I thought I drank a little too much wine sometimes. I tried to ask what other grapes the wine maker liked or drank and we delved into a 20 min conversation about how they dont drink anything else. I got him to admit he had wine before from the region right next door. Man, they're missing out.

I forgot to get pictures but they will be at the store on Sat pouring their wines so we will take a few. Cools guys I must say. I was even offered a helicopter ride over Rioja (the region) if i can sell enough of his wine so that he can buy a helicopter. I felt like that was a fair deal.

Off to my first experience with the Jax Symphony tonight. Had a couple tickets that fell off the back of a truck so to speak. Actually 2 of my customers play for the symphony so they gave me a couple. Ill let you know how it goes.
