We finally have most of a front yard. I've been battling with it for a year now trying to save what was there and not be forced to annihilate everything and start over. I actually had a neighbor and his wife walking down the road laugh at me digging in the sand and say 'still fighting with that yard eh?'. That's when you know there was no saving it so start over. After about 5 gallons of roundup (don't worry its just a salt solution, its not bad for the environment) and a bit of 'how the hell does this stuff still live after all this roundup', we laid sod. Now I just have to water the darn thing everyday for a month. I couldn't buy a day of rain right now for anything.
I still just a touch left to do like find a few odd pieces of sod to finish up as well as put some rock down for a little parking area. Then it's on to the patio... I think. At least our neighbors don't think we are total slackers anymore. Thank goodness the house doesn't need painting, that might take a year or two to get around to.
