April flowers...

Now that the cold fronts are over, Florida is really beginning to show her colors. The sun is bright, the temperatures are steadily climbing which brings.... the flowers. Now I'm not a big flower grower however my veggies are beginning to flower and fruit.

Yesterday and today mark a trine on the biodynamic calendar which means time to spray, pray, and fertilize. Well 2 out of the 3 at least. The spray is prep # 501 which you can read about on your own time by clicking on the biodynamic link above. The prep is supposed to help established plant growth. My dad however thinks I am outside doing a rain dance prayer for my garden and wants me to photograph my choreography. It does seem a little superstitious sometimes but what have you got to lose right? Maybe my arm strength. You're supposed to stir this mixture with a stick using your shoulder, not your wrist, for an hour straight alternating arms every so often.

As you can see things are really taking off and the summer hasn't even begun yet. Ill keep you up to date on how things progress. I still have room to plant a few more things as well. Hopefully if all goes well we have veggies coming in all year by staggering the planting times. We shall see.
