March of Dimes

Last weekend was the annual March of Dimes in Gainesville (Go Gators!). Foxy had participated in the walk for many years, starting back in HS. We agreed this was a charity we wanted to support and contribute to for many reasons, one of which was because her cousin Noah, who was born 3 months early, was made the "Ambassador" for the walk. We walked just short of 9 miles and got to spend some time seeing how well he was doing these days. He has come along way and we are so happy to see him in such good health.

The walk was catered by many of the local businesses at different locations along the route. By the time it was all said and done, we had indulged in fruit, drinks, chips, ice cream, moonpies, nilla wafers, and many other things Im sure I dont remember consuming. Then came lunch. I was completely unprepared for this walk. My thought was that we would walk 9 miles, get to see Noah, get some water and go home. Along the way, each business would pass little trinkets out advertising their comapany (water bottle holders, magnets, pencils, cups, bandanas, etc). I didnt want to miss anything good so I started to collect. Do you realize how hard it is to walk miles with your pockets and hands full of junk? The worst of it was by the time I realize I was collecting all this stuff they handed me, it was almost the end and I couldnt give it up then; I had carried it for so long already! Darn marketing geniuses... you got me. Ill be better prepared for next year and we want to get a group together to all walk together. If youre interested let me know for next year.
