This all came from what I wrote when I couldnt sleep on my trip in California.
I wish I could sleep like normal people. No, Im not an insomniac. I just cant sleep very well, especially with a time change. I know its only 3 hours behind but that means not only is dinner at what should be 10pm, but my internal wake up call goes off at 3:30am eventhough Im exhausted. No rest for the weary. I suppose it could be something to do with the fact my body is in a huge debate on whether or not to refund dinner. Red meat and dairy seem to be two things i was not meant to process. Guess what we had for dinner tonight. The Chef made a fantastic meal, tasted great, but it didnt like me. Point is, Im tired, cant sleep, my stomach hurts, the tv doesnt work, and Im in the middle of nowhere.
I would like to call myself a semi-professional traveller because not only do I have taking a trip with only a carry on down, but we make it to the gate just as they start boarding so no wait. If only I could learn how to politely tell this white trash mother behind me to shut her 4 screaming kids up. Yes for some reason they let 4 kids and a mother into 3 seats, like that wasnt going to be annoying somehow. Kids fighting every two seconds, then one cries and screams. It seems Ipods dont go high enough. There wasnt a block out screaming kid level for volume. These little brats fought with each other all the way from Jax to Oakland including the 2 stops along the way. I couldnt figure out whether it was better to buy all the kids a shot to help them calm or just take all 4 myself and then I wouldnt care. I move for a national sterlization program of all "unfit" people.
Everyone Im sure has heard about how bad Cali traffic is but i dont think we really appreciate the rediculousness of it until we're in it. San Fran of course was a little thick but nothing too bad. It was that drive from the Golden Gate to just north of Peteluma (about 60 miles). 3 1/2 hours. Mapquest it and see what it says its supposed to take. In California they have Freeways which just means there really arent good on and off ramps like we have here so everytime you get to another onramp everyone pretty much stops or just slowly rolls letting people on. We are bumper to bumper moving 5 miles an hour at 2pm on a Thurs afternoon in August.
